The Auckland Art Gallery was in a funding crisis. Despite having 50% more exhibition space, 80% more public event space and a growing Auckland population, it was operating with the same level of public funding as it did over 10 years ago. We developed a grass-roots style campaign that enabled the community to voice why the gallery was important to them.
The campaign was a success, with a commitment from Auckland City Council of $20 million in increased funds for the gallery over the next 10 years. A wonderful outcome proving that art was and is important to the people of Auckland.
